Interviewed by another youth organization "EnviroGlobal Youth"

September 4th, 2023

In August, the founder of EnviroGlobal Youth, Michaela, reached out to Candice to interview her about her climate journey and motivation behind founding EcoClimate Society.

It was an honor to get recognized by another youth organization and have a conversation with another youth advocate. We hope to have more of those opportunities in the future.

July 27th, 2023

Candice was invited as a speaker at the event "Climate & Environment Development Session for the Declaration of Human Rights" hosted by UNA-USA (United Nations Association of the United States of America).

During the session, Candice shared her climate journey and the driving force behind founding EcoClimate Society. Engaging with the audience, she answered questions from youth and offered insights on sparking change within their communities.

I think my central message is that the climate crisis isn't some distant problem; it's right here, affecting our lives and our future.

School Club Event: Climate Change's Impact on the Homeless

January 12th, 2024

Candice’s school club hosted a SleepOut event for students to sleep in the community center for one night to keep the homeless children in our minds. Candice presented information on how environmental factors affect homeless rates and what we can do to help. It is surprising to see how closely related the two topics are.

Global Climate Writing Contest

March - June, 2024

The EcoClimate Society, in collaboration with The Climate Initiative (TCI), is passionate about empowering young individuals to become advocates for environmental sustainability and climate action. Recognizing the importance of providing a platform for youth voices, we host a creative contest targeting middle school and high school students, where they can express their perspectives on climate change through writing.

Our world is facing unprecedented challenges due to climate change, and engaging the younger generation in meaningful dialogue and action is crucial for building a sustainable future. By organizing this contest, we seek to foster creativity, critical thinking, and empathy among young participants while raising awareness about the urgent need for climate action.

The winner of the contest will get global recognition on ECS's and TCI's websites and a swag pack!

Support SB 1054 and AB 2329 to Advocate for California Electrification for Health

January 12th, 2024

Candice invited friends from her school area to petition for the passing of SB 1054 and AB 2329 by creating and promoting a campaign and meeting with San Bernardino Assembly Member James Ramos.

This petition is important for improving public health, combating climate change, and advancing environmental justice. By supporting SB 1054 and AB 2329, we advocate for measures that reduce household air pollution, promote cleaner energy sources, and create healthier living environments for all Californians. Transitioning to zero-carbon-emitting appliances not only mitigates the impacts of climate change but also fosters environmental justice by assisting vulnerable communities in accessing clean energy solutions.

In addition, these bills address the root causes of respiratory illnesses, cardiovascular diseases, and other health complications linked to indoor air pollution. Specifically, by reducing emissions of harmful pollutants like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, these bills aim to decrease the rates of respiratory infections, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma exacerbations, and even lung cancer.
